Crossing V

aceo giclee on canvas, Gallery Juana Crossing five is 16 inches x 20 inches mixed media on paper adhered to a support. And I started this painting back in May of 2024.  I don't have any notes in my journals about this painting. And I think that's partly because of everything that was going on in my life at that time.   I spent the latter half of 2024 trying to find my bearings and art played an integral part in doing so. Crossing III and IV

Crossing III and Crossing IV aceo giclee on canvas Crossing III and IV, started with an under layer of charcoal.   Next, I painted layers of sumi and walnut inks sculpting the figures as the inks dried. The originals are 18 by 24 inches, canvas glued onto a support. I will have limited edition prints available in my Gallery Juana Etsy shop available November 2025. While I was healing for a good month, my partner, you know, he was there the entire time one hundred percent. He was this pillar of strength for me and comfort and love. I wanted to impart a spiritual strength of getting through this arduous part of a journey … digging deep within one’s soul in order to carry on.  Looking at these two paintings now: I sense their strength and resilience. Crossing II

Crossing II, giclee on canvas, 2.5 x 3.5 inches This crossing series developed during a pivotal time in my life. I could visualize different paths leading into and also leading out from this personal juncture where I had reached. There was also this undefining in my life at that time and I was finding freedom in this taking away of narratives. And so it was a time when my perspectives were shifting and illuminating this broader reality that I felt I could live in going forward. In a good way and in a better way, my world had expanded. Crossing I

aceo giclee on canvas, limited edition, Crossing I, GalleryJuana The paintings I've included in this series were completed during a time in which my life pivoted into and out of a single event. When I completed this first painting in the series, I’d just come out of a traumatic and chaotic time and was feeling anxious, determined and cautiously hopeful. Although I was feeling better, I knew that I had to be aware of my physical health because I was not completely healed yet. And I think with this figure, it was that caution that I was feeling and that determination and this impatience of my experience at that time.
